Before comparing metered hosting quotes
Know which usage charges sit above the base fee.
Combine quoted base, bandwidth, storage and request fees for one month. Use actual measured usage and the billable allowances in your quote.
Build my cost worksheetSee a worked exampleCheck that this model fits the quote
- The quote must use one base monthly fee and one flat price for each kind of overage. Tiered, peak or compute-based plans need a fuller model.
- Confirm bandwidth and storage use decimal GB. Convert GiB from the provider's documentation before entering it.
- Confirm request billing units and whether every started unit is billed. This model rounds request overage up to whole units.
- Enter pre-tax fees in one currency. Use 0 only for a confirmed zero fee or confirmed zero usage, never for an unknown price.
This is not a general shared-hosting price estimator. Do not invent metered rates for an unlimited plan or a plan that suspends usage at a limit.
A worked example
Fictional prices, not provider offers. A $10 base fee includes 100 GB of bandwidth, 10 GB of storage and 1 million requests. Assume 150 GB bandwidth, 20 GB storage and 1.5 million requests, with overage prices of $0.10 per GB bandwidth, $0.20 per GB storage and $1 per started million requests.
Overages cost $5 + $2 + $1. The total is $18 for the modeled month, or $216 if that exact month repeats 12 times. That is not an annual quote or usage forecast.
Your metered hosting worksheet
USD/EUR amounts allow two decimal places; JPY uses whole yen. Taxes are excluded. Prices smaller than one currency minor unit are unsupported; do not round them into this model. A currency change does not convert amounts.

Turn the total into a quote check
- Compare this estimate with a real invoice. Check excluded regions, backups, compute, support and taxes before treating it as the full bill.
- Repeat with plausible lower and higher usage. This model does not test site capacity, performance or reliability.
- When renewal is near, read the hosting migration checklist. Its calculator requires fixed full invoice amounts; a variable monthly estimate from this worksheet is not a confirmed future invoice.
- Keeping the current host can be sensible when migration effort or service uncertainty outweighs a quoted saving.

Method and limits
Bandwidth and storage overage are the positive differences between usage and included amounts. Multiply each by its quoted rate and round each charge up to the smallest currency unit. Request overage rounds up to whole billing units before applying the unit price. Add the base fee and the three overage charges.
The 12-month projection repeats the entered month without growth or price changes. Regional tiers, peak billing, compute scaling, discounts, extra services, tax and currency conversion are excluded. The quote must use decimal GB, proportional GB charging and whole request units for this estimate to apply.
Common questions
Can this compare a fixed-price WordPress host?
A confirmed fixed fee with confirmed zero overage charges can be entered, but the tool does not verify what the plan includes or what happens when its limits are reached. Do not use this as a provider comparison or a performance ranking.
Why does one extra request trigger a full billing unit?
The selected model bills every started request unit. If your provider uses proportional requests or another rule, this model does not fit that quote.
Can I use the annual projection to time a migration?
No. It assumes a constant month and contains no migration date, invoice schedule, cancellation notice, setup fee or overlap. Read the separate switching checklist and confirm actual invoice amounts.
Local data handling
This worksheet keeps inputs and results in this page's memory. It adds no analytics, cookies, browser storage, backend or contact form. CSV downloads are created on your device. Reloading starts again; browser Back/Forward may restore in-memory page state.
Cloudflare hosts this page and processes ordinary web-request data to deliver it. No quote values are added to links. There is no support inbox or request form. Read the data-handling notice for hosting requests and the limited campaign labels used in navigation.
